As Hurricane Irene tracked its way up across the eastern seaboard last week, there was a good deal of concern as to how the various wind farms in its path would fair. A number of different wind farms from Delaware to Maine were exposed to Irene, and very few problems were reported. Electric Vehicle Invented

Richard Chapo asked: Many say the electric vehicle will never exist, but popular hybrid vehicles are a variation of them. To under electric vehicles, it is prudent to know who and when they were invented. The electric vehicle has been heralded for many years as the vehicle of the future. This type of electrically powered vehicle is better for the environment and less expensive to run than traditional gasoline powered vehicles, and can be built from existing vehicle parts with a few modifications. With all of the focus on hybrid and electric vehicles in recent years, you might think the time when the electric vehicle was developed was relatively recently, but this is not the case. So, when was the electric vehicle invented? Historians have recorded that between 1832 and 1839 (the exact year is uncertain), Robert Anderson of Scotland invented the first electric powered vehicles. This crude model was not exactly what would be considered a vehicle by today’s standards, but was definitely the forefather of electric vehicles today. Around 1842, more practical and usable electric vehicles were developed in America by Thomas Davenport, and in Scotland by Robert Davidson. While the evolution of the electric vehicle invented more possibilities, France and Great Britain were the only two countries to really start focusing on the electric vehicle, in the late 1800′s. In 1895, the United States finally got on board with developing electric powered vehicles, after an electric tricycle was built by A.L. Ryker. The first commercial version of an electric vehicle or vehicle was found in 1897, when the Electric Carriage and Wagon Company of Philadelphia built a fleet of electric powered taxis for New York City. The years 1899 and 1900 were the best years in the history of electric vehicles for the United States, as electric vehicles outsold any other type of vehicle in these two years. Production of electric vehicles peaked in the year 1912, and these type of vehicles enjoyed success into the 1920′s, after which there was a marked decline in the demand for electric vehicles. As more and more road systems were developed crossing the US, the need for longer range vehicles became apparent. Coupled with the finding of oil in Texas, which meant gasoline was more affordable for everyday use, combustion engines quickly became the more popular engine for vehicles. Today, the electric vehicles invented in the last half of the 20th century are seen as the wave of the future for eco-friendly vehicles. The same problems still plague electric vehicles that did so in the 1920′s, including slow speeds and short ranges, but hopefully with new technology, electric vehicles will be able to replace the polluting combustion engine vehicles we drive today. Global Warming, Wind Energy and the Turbine

Summer N Banks asked: The greatest concern that plagues any nation today is the issue of Global warming. Pollution has led to environmental degradation causing widespread climatic changes and also resulting in various health hazards. It is not only the various governments of the different countries but also the business houses and the companies who are spending time and money to bring about radical changes in development of sustainable, renewable and alternative sources of energy. It is here, that the power generated from wind energy has emerged as one of the fastest growing renewable energy technologies. Wind power energy is one of the most viable options amongst the various renewable energy technologies today. Wind energy technologies have matured over the years and the usages of wind turbines for power generation have gained momentum. The latest are the vertical axis wind turbines that need to be pointed towards the direction of the wind in the homes that will result in generating the cleanest energy. The kinetic energy of the wind is transformed into mechanical energy by these specially designed wind turbines. Most wind turbines have start up speed of 8 MPH but it requires a minimum average speed of 12 MPH. The height at which the wind turbines work best is approximately 100 feet. Another important thing is it requires half an acre of land to make it efficient without many obstructions. There exist three types of wind turbines especially designed for the residential owners. Wind power generators are again one of the most reliable sources of green power on the planet. The concept of wind farms is also gaining in popularity. Wind farms install many turbines, scattered over a larger area thereby harnessing the wind energy to its maximum capacity. It is said that the largest wind farm is in Texas known as the Horse Hollow Wind Energy Center has about 421 wind turbines that can generate electricity to power approximately 230,000 homes per year. In recent times, there are companies that are specializing in providing information on wind “resources” around the world. This is before erecting any wind turbine, the area should be properly chosen, and the companies in this respect can provide data on wind that is blowing 80 m high over an area of 15 km for a year. This detailed information in turn would open up vast areas for the development of this renewable and clean source of energy. To leap forward over fossil fuels, it is imperative that we spend more time and research on developing this most economical renewable source of energy. Moving Company In Texas: Sun The Unlimited Source of Electricity

Solar power is created by obtaining daylight or heat and then converting it into electrical energy. This normally is done by applying direct or indirect techniques. In the direct process which utilizes solar cells sunlight is instantly made into electrical energy that is applied for many purposes ranging from solar powered watches to garden lights. In the indirect process the sun’s ray is utilized to generate steam by simmering water which is then utilized in the production of solar power. The benefits from such an endeavor are numerous, and can include things that will help humanity for many years to come. A cleaner planet is something that many people see as important for our lives now as well as the future generations that are to come, and thus, implementing solar energy into our daily lives has become very important. Sun is literally an endless supply of energy which the human kind can use to advantage. It is also toxic free which makes it excellent news for the grounds of environmentalism. Any person residing in warming, sunny locations can think of putting up photo voltaic panels on their roofs and power their homes with this! Of course it will take much time before solar power can be used instead of fossil fuels totally. Right now even though the equipments for the creation are somewhat sophisticated there is a must to cut down the fees of the primary setting up process. Many nations nowadays are going in for solar power plant plans methodically. Like for example in California a cash enticement has been announced for home owners who can manage to generate more solar power than they consume and supply the extra back into the grid. This type of incentive scheme has been successful in Germany and Spain and is probable to be a big hit with Californians as well. Thus if you are planning on transferring and saving money by switching over to this nature friendly, renewable reserve you will be able to think of relocating to Germany, Spain or California. There are California moving companies that may aid make your relocation simple. A moving company in Texas is also an excellent plan to think of if you are relocating abroad. The world’s greatest solar power plant has been deliberated in Gujarat a state in India. This is a tropical area which catches the sun at its full power approximately through out the year. The plant which was initially deliberated for the production of 500 MW is at this moment being stretched to provide 3000 MW. A solar forest that aims to be a parking space that also are able to quickly charge the vehicles that are parked there is an additional plan that is in progress. Electric powered vehicles as we all are familiar with are the least polluting. There are several tools that are being designed to obtain solar power generated effectively. This form of energy can be utilized in many applications including the running of vehicles, other vehicles (the most recent being a passenger boat for Berlin), satellites, cooking, lighting and so much more.
