Put The Central Heating On And Cut Down On The Layers

Did you know that using the central heating in your home can reduce the need for wearing lots of layers? Not only do they hinder your movements, but sitting in your coat because the house is freezing cold really isn’t an attractive look. And of course, the visitors wouldn’t be too pleased if they popped round. The Digital Age Many homeowners would like to turn their central heating on but don’t in case it costs too much. One of the best ways to get round this is to have a digital thermostat so you can have more control over the heating bill. A digital thermostat also makes sure the heating isn’t turned on for the whole day which would run up a large bill. In fact, you’ll be glad of the digital thermostat when summer comes around and there’s inevitably a few days a month when it gets a bit chilly and you think you have to resort to turning the central heating on for the whole day. The point of the thermostat is to adjust the level of heat accordingly. Think About The Children Another benefit of having the central heating turned on is the fact that the mornings will be warmer and thus you don’t need to throw 2 dressing gowns on to keep warm! Set the central heating to come on at around 7am and by the time you get up, the house should be pleasantly warm for you and your family. There’s nothing worse than feeling cold, and someone reluctant to turn the central heating on inevitably means more layers of clothing you have to put on. The problem is, wearing lots of layers of clothing just warms you, not everyone else, so it would mean your whole family had to wear multiple layers when milling around the house! Also, if there are kids in your family, it is even more important that they stay warm and central heating is a necessity. Children should be kept warm and the central heating should be turned on. People take heated homes for granted and if you step outside on a cold winter’s day you will soon run back inside and appreciate the warmth your central heating provides. So, now you know. Just remember, using the central heating means people don’t have to wrap up warm round the house. Your thick woolly jumpers are fine for braving the outside, but when vegetating on the sofa inside, you don’t want to be all wrapped up. The central heating will make it toasty warm and keep everyone happy, which is obviously very important. It seems simple and it is, but some people still don’t appreciate the fact that turning the central heating on can reduce the need for wearing layers in the home. Not only do they hinder your movements, but sitting in your coat because the house is freezing cold really isn’t an attractive look. Any visitors that came to the house would be shocked to see you sat in a coat anyway, and they would probably have to sit in theirs if it is that cold. Go Digital It is fair to say that the reluctance of putting the central heating on stems from the fact it costs. One of the best ways to get round this is to have a digital thermostat so you can have more control over the heating bill. This ensures the central heating isn’t turned on for the whole day, running up a large bill for you. Digital thermostats are also good when summer arrives as there are always some days that it just gets a bit cold and you could do with the central heating on. The thermostat staggers the level of heat, and the associated costs. The Kids Another benefit of having the central heating turned on is the fact that the mornings will be warmer and thus you don’t need to throw 2 dressing gowns on to keep warm! If you set the central heating system to turn on at 6am then getting up should be easy. Without heating, everyone would have to wear more layers in the home. Bear in mind though that wearing multiple clothing layers only benefits you and everyone else will feel the cold. Also, if there are kids in your family, it is even more important that they stay warm and central heating is a necessity. Children should be kept warm and the central heating should be turned on. Central heating is integral to the home environment and you only need one blast of cold air outside to appreciate the warmth inside. Hopefully now you can appreciate the benefits of central heating. By turning the central heating on, you cut down on the clothing. When you’re inside you need to make sure you can relax comfortably in the armchair without feeling cold. All in all, the heat the central heating provides will make everyone happy in the home. Alternative Energy And Wind Energy – Wind Energy Literally in the Palm of Your Hand

Sam Greyhawk asked: Wind power has historically played a big part in US culture. During the 1920s and 1930s, farms throughout the Midwest took advantage of wind power to generate electricity for their lights and electric motors. When our government started actively subsidizing the construction of fossil fuel based power plants and the associated utility lines, wind power fell into decline. Similar to energy efficiency, during the energy crisis in the 1970s, things that were old became new again. Now with growing environmental concerns being expressed globally many people are once reexamining wind power. Wind Energy Basics One form of energy, wind (a form of solar energy), is converted to another form of energy, electricity, using a wind turbine. As the turbine spins, electricity is generated. Similar to solar power, wind power is protected from inflation. How? Any power you generate using your own wind turbine goes against the current utility pricing. Wind power can effectively shield you from rising electricity costs. Wind Energy in the Palm of My Hand? As consumers show renewed interest in renewable energy sources like wind, product manufacturers are already rushing to respond. One of the most interesting consumer wind technologies is both amazingly inexpensive and amazingly small. How small? You can hold this particular wind turbine in your hand – while it’s generating electricity. The HYmini A product of MINIWIZ Sustainable Energy Dev. LTD, the HYmini is a revolutionary new green product. While I’ve frequently seen many small consumer versions of solar technologies, specifically designed to power your cell phone, PDAs and MP3 players, this is the first handheld wind turbine I’ve encountered. The HYmini combines a small wind turbine designed to generate power in wind speeds between 9-30 miles per hour with an internal 1200mAh lithium ion polymer battery. The HYmini maxs out it’s ability to convert wind into electricity at 40 miles per hour. The battery is good for about 500 complete charge cycles. The HYmini is literally a green power station that you can hold in the palm of your hand. The inventors of the HYmini pushed the envelope and added a few more impressive green features. To maximize the flexibility of their new device, they allowed for the HYmini battery to be externally recharged. That means in a pinch you can plug your HYmini into any USB port or conventional 100-240V wall plug and instantly start recharging. miniSOLAR If plugging your HYmini into your electrical outlet isn’t green enough for you then consider the miniSOLAR option. miniSOLAR is an inexpensive solar panel designed to work with the HYmini. Thanks to HYmini’s ability to externally recharge, you can easily add up to four miniSOLAR panels to recharge your HYmini using solar energy. Each miniSOLAR panel can add up to 140mA at 5V of recharging power. Staying with the eco-friendly theme, the MINIWIZ team houses each miniSOLAR panel in a recycled card board paper package. HYmini Applications HYmini is perfect for both runners and cyclists and to encourage it’s use in both those markets the MINIWIZ team offers both a bicycle mount and an armband. If the wind is a little slow on a particular day then why not add some human energy to the mix. The HYmini will literally be generating electricity while you are burning through calories. Ignoring the wind turbine for a moment, the HYmini, is also the perfect rechargeable backup battery pack for all your mobile electronics. This expands possible uses for the HYmini exponentially. Talk To Me About Power Thanks to some useful testing completed by MINIWIZ we have some hard facts regarding power generation for the HYmini. According to MINIWIZ using the HYmini wind turbine or the miniSOLAR panels you can capture enough energy in 20 minutes to power: A MP3 Player for 40 minutes A PDA for 40 minutes An iPod for 30 minutes A Cell Phone for 4 minutes A Digital Camera for 20 pictures To capture that much wind energy you will however need constant 19 mile per hour wind speeds. The solar panels will need direct sunlight as well. You can learn more about the HYmini and the miniSOLAR panels at the following website: http://www.hymini.com/ As technology advances, you can expect to see many more unique green technologies such as the HYmini. Wind power is a lost part of our culture, a part we have recently started to reconnect with and the HYmini offers consumers an inexpensive way to implement wind power in their lives today. Using devices like the HYmini can reduce disposable battery usage and waste. When batteries are improperly disposed of and end up in landfills or incinerators, they inevitably leak into our environment and eventually end up in our food chain. Take part in the new wind power revolution and reduce your battery usage, the environment will thank you for both. When You Build A Solar Panel – What Are The Hazards To Be Aware Of?

Before you actually begin to build a solar panel , bear in mind that there are a few potential problems to keep an eye on. Start your project on the right foot. Get all the components together before you start; get a tool box with all the right tools and a manual which gives step by step instructions. But before even those basic steps, it is more important to have a clear picture of what your solar panel is going to end up looking like and where you are going to use it. Decide how big your dream is. Do want to start a solar farm, building 2000 watt panels and feed electricity back to the national grid or do you want to build 500 watt panels for running specific appliances in your home or do just want a small one; to build a solar panel for re-charging your digital camera batteries? The process is exactly the same when building a low wattage yield solar and a high wattage panel, besides time and space, the only other thing you need is more solar cells. The main reason for many people wanting to make their own solar electricity is that they can save on the cost of having to actually by them because they are very expensive. Now you know how large you solar panel is going to be, we now have to find a ready source of solar cells. Now you don’t want to pay a lot of money for them. The first port of call for me is eBay, sometimes you can get lucky and find someone who is selling a pile of solar cells at a very good price. However, this process is a bit hit and miss and only about 50% of the time can you find something that you are looking for. The best option is to contact companies in your local area who use solar panels to power remote pieces of electrical equipment. Contact these companies and make yourself known to them, tell them what you want to do so at a later date should they have any broken cells they want to dispose of, they will contact you. A big user of solar cells are the companies who repair roads or make street signs for roads. These signs get damaged on a regular basis and have to be repaired. If the solar panel is damaged they will throw the old panel away replace it with a new one. These damaged panels will still work fine, and if you know how to build a solar panel , it doesn’t take much to repair them in most cases. Finding a cheap supply of solar cells is the only major problem you need to solve if you are looking to build a solar panel on a shoestring, so start searching for those local businesses today. Remeber what I said earlier, know what outcome you want to end up with, have a clear picture even sketch it out on a piece of paper. From my experience, if you don’t have this, you build an odd panel for this and an odd panel for that. You will make life very hard for yourself and will probably be disappointed. Stick a picture on the wall and go and build it. You could be surprised how rapidly they work. Get Digital Try to avoid using paper if it could be avoided. Make use of email rather than paper to communicate whenever possible. You may also want to scout out the prospect of getting software that provides digital documents rather than wasting paper. Typically digital forms can be marked up, highlighted and distributed just as quickly as paper documents. Get the Max Out of Your Paper In case you merely cannot escape printing documents to paper, make sure and utilize both sides of the paper before you deposit it in the recycling container. Avoid using unmarked paper except if entirely essential. Persuade others to do so as well. It shouldnt require much convincing when you say to him you know a technique to cut his copy paper expense in half. Dispose of the Energy Vampires Energy vampires are any electronic device that consumes power even when it is not operational. Make certain to shut off (or even better unplug) any item that is not working along with all needless devices when the workplace is closed. A trouble-free means to achieve this is by positioning power strips in line with multiple devices so they can be shut off by merely flipping a lever. Abandon the Styrofoam Coffee Cups Try approaching your boss about inciting workers to transport their own insulated coffee cups from home rather than dispensing throw away paper or foam coffee cups in the break room. Not only will this facilitate to decrease landfill wastes, but it should additionally save your company a chunk at the end of the year. Implementing any or all of these ideas in your office is a grand step at making your planet a little more green.
